Why?

I’m from Turkey and a new international team member at YYSK. My Erasmus+ and volunteering journey began in 2016 during my first year of high school. My German teacher recognized my potential with languages and suggested I visit a local Youth Centre. There, I joined a “Conversation Club” with European Voluntary Service volunteers from various countries. Initially, I saw it as a way to improve my English, but with the activity only twice a week, I was eager for more. To fill the gap, I started helping the volunteers with other activities. This caught the attention of the local NGO coordinator, sparking my long-term involvement with Erasmus+ volunteering. 

In the summer of 2022, I participated in a project in Marrakesh, Morocco, where I heard about Youthfully Yours. By the end of 2023 and, for multiple personal reasons, decided to apply for a volunteering position. As of May 2024, I am working as a Project Coordinator at YYSK, and it has been the best thing that has happened to me. My role allows me to combine my passion for travel and volunteerism while contributing to meaningful projects. 

During my adaptation period at YYSK, I have met many others who share the same interests and motivations. The supportive team at YYSK has made every challenge surmountable, reinforcing my belief that anything is possible with the right support. This is why I think YOU should volunteer at YYSK as it means becoming part of a community where dreams and aspirations are turned into reality through collective effort.
