Youth exchange - Active citizenship through diversity

Between 26.04-04.05.2022 participants from six countries across Europe: Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Greece Romania, and us, Slovakia came together in Romania, Sinaia to a Youth Exchange "ACT-DIVE" implemented under the Erasmus+ program.

The purpose of this project was to educate ourselves on democracy, society, and international cooperation. Every day we took part in various interactive presentations and creative workshops about active citizenship and the meaning of an active citizen in local communities and different countries. We also had some role-plays: open discussions and debates-like the mayor and citizens. International teams had to come up with a play in which people presented their arguments for and against a certain initiative. We strengthened the respect to come to a decision in a civilized way.

The weather was on our side, so we also had outdoor activities- energized games and pen-chandelles in downtown Sinaia where we needed to interact with the locals and change the pen for something else as many times as possible We hiked on the mountain, with an amazing view and we also visited the Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle.

Sunday we had an activity in Sinaia Park where each country initiated games or other activities for the children. The children were very receptive and happy to be part of our activities. There was a cultural night every night. Each country had to present its country.

We danced traditional dances, ate typical dishes, and learned a few words in other languages. It was amazing. It was the first project for all of us, from Slovakia, and it was a very successful project. Thanks to the good and positive energy of the group and also thanks to the Shy Guys Association. It was an amazing time with wonderful people. Thank you!
