Hearful Leader TC in Slovenia pt. 1
For me, this was the first time I took part in an Erasmus+ project, so I had high expectations from it. From the name of the project, I assumed the course will focus on the leadership knowledge and skills in different aspects. However, as it turned out, the course took an alternative take on leadership and focused on the βheartfulβ side of a leader. In other words, we discussed and practiced mindfulness, self-awareness, connection between the body, the mind and emotions, as well as creativity, curiosity and improvisation.
The place where we stayed at, the Metta farm in Frankolovo, was very open, cozy and organic. We slept in a reconstructed barn, which was at first a little bit difficult to get used to, but after some time, I got used to it. Downstairs, there was an open kitchen with one of the best cooks, who prepared delicious food every day. I really enjoyed the beautiful nature and landscape of Slovenia, as it reminded me of the Orava and Liptov region of Slovakia.
From Slovakia, there were two participants, PaulΓna and me. We instantly got along with each other and spent a lot of time together. On the free day of the project, we went together on a trip to Celje and visited the city centre and the Technipark science centre nearby, as well as the LaΕ‘ko castle nearby. There were many other participants from Europe, all of whom were friendly and inspirational.
Needless to say, I did enjoy my stay in Slovenia. While I didnβt learn something new or revolutionary, the course did help me better understand who a (heartful) leader should be. Not to mention, I met amazing people from across Europe, and helped me appreciate the nature and the beauties of Slovenia.
