The Pulse of Youth in Slovakia, North Macedonia, and Armenia

The Blueprint for Youth Workers in Slovakia, North Macedonia, and Armenia

In a world that's rapidly evolving, understanding youth perspectives is essential. As part of our commitment to boosting youth engagement and fostering active citizenship, we conducted the Up 2 You(th)! Country Surveys in 2021-2022. The core objective? To understand how young people perceive their role and involvement in their local communities.

Overview of the Survey

Conducted across Slovakia, Armenia, and North Macedonia, the survey was a key component of the strategic partnership "Up 2 You(th)!". With a sample size of 807 enthusiastic young respondents across the three countries, we've been able to:

  1. Grasp Youth Perspectives: By revealing how they view community participation, the survey offers a look into their aspirations, challenges, and hopes.
  2. Identify Barriers: From understanding barriers to civic and political involvement to acknowledging gaps in decision-making processes, the survey provides valuable insights.

Benchmark Perceptions: The data serves as a baseline, capturing the sentiment around civic engagement at the outset of our partnership.

Methodology That Matters

Quality insights require quality methodology. Our approach was systematic:

  • The survey design originated from exploratory research.
  • Inputs from experts and partners of the Up 2 You(th)! initiative were integral in shaping the questionnaire.
  • A seamless online platform facilitated data collection.

Key Takeaways from the Survey

Our consolidated report encapsulates findings, analyzing cross-cutting themes and extracting both commonalities and contrasts across the responses from Slovakia (488 participants), Armenia (216 participants), and North Macedonia (103 participants).

From this data, we've drawn insights that promise to be instrumental for strategists, policymakers, and of course, youth workers, setting the stage for a more inclusive community framework.
