Youth Engagement Lab

I participated on Erasmus+ project for the first time. I did not know what to expect. Overall, I was nicely surprised by how smoothly the project went. I have learnt a lot about EU, the simulation of EU parliament helped me to get the system of the laws passing, I realised, it is not that easy how it may seem.

A huge amount of interesting information got to me. I found out what is the average age of members of parliament in SK, how many members from SK are in EU parliament and we have also discussed how to participate more as EU citizen. Honestly, I did not know how many projects are financed by EU and that I have so many options.

I have met amazing people from 7 countries and if I could go one more time, I would take the opportunity without thinking. For sure, this is not the last project I participated in.

I have wanted to join an Erasmus+ project for a long time. As soon as I saw this opportunity which took place exactly on my 18th birthday I decided to join. I didn't know any of the participants before the project started, so I entered the project with a lot of uncertainty.

However, as soon as I met the participants, the uncertainty completely disappeared. I met a bunch of great people from 7 countries around the world. Together with them I participated in various workshops and presentations which usually started with introductory games after which we seamlessly connected to the topic discussed. The topics were very interesting and at the same time they were set up in such a way that I didn't need extensive knowledge on the topic. In the presentations and workshops I learnt a lot about the workings of the EU, specifically how the redistribution of finances works, what the number of MEPs in the EU parliament depends on and who elects them, how and when different countries joined the EU, but also about the workings of parliaments in other countries and the workings of the state outside the EU.

This was my first Erasmus+ project. I learnt a lot of new things in interesting ways, improved my English and met a lot of great people. When I get the next opportunity to go, I will definitely participate.
