AVP Bridges, Not Walls
Youthfully Yours was looking for a group leader for a project that was starting soon and I could not miss this opportunity so I signed up for the APV and subsequent youth exchange in Lithuania.
Now I will describe how the APV proceeded. APV or Advanced Planning Visit as I learned on the second day of the APV is a short and quick meeting of the group leaders and the organizer before the actual exchange. Organizer briefs all the group leaders on the goal of the project and the methods. Then they discuss the details and possibly suggest alternative methods.
This APV took place in Kaunas, second biggest city in Lithuania. Personally I am a big fan of second biggest cities in countries they always seem more friendly, local and the culture is less tourist oriented.
Immediately as I got off the plane in Vilnius I noticed how great the public transport is, I was told before that Lithuania is very tech focused and Kaunas is a tech-hub, which is true, and public transport definitely did not disappoint. The tickets were super easy to purchase and the train to Kaunas from Vilnius took just 90 minutes.
In Kaunas, first day we had an introduction and second day we did the complete briefing on the project, went through everything in the infopack and decided on the activities. Third day we met for breakfast, said goodbye to the organizer and then explored Kaunas for a bit before saying goodbye to each other and each travelling back to our countries.
