From August 16th to 24th, I had the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus+ youth exchange
CTRL+ME, which took place near the Danish town of Ebeltoft. Our international family
consisted of participants from Slovakia, Denmark, Spain, Romania and Cyprus. We stayed in
a peaceful location close to the beach and the Kattegat Strait, which was an ideal place to slow
down, take a break from our everyday routines and focus on the topic of the project.
The first days were mainly about getting to know each other through various
icebreakers and team-building activities. The sessions were very well prepared and combined
useful information with interactive activities, making them not only educational but also fun.
Throughout the week, we explored topics such as human attention, multitasking (which, as we
learned, is not such a good idea), digital well-being and cybersecurity. We also discussed how
to develop healthier digital habits.
One of the highlights of the project was a visit to Aarhus, where we had the opportunity
to explore the city and learn about its Viking history. I also really appreciated that the organisers
allowed us to spend a few extra days in Denmark (in my case, also in Germany) before or after
the project itself. Thanks to this, I had the opportunity to visit Copenhagen and Hamburg as
well.
Of course, Erasmus+ is not only about workshops and new knowledge. Every evening
brought an intercultural experience, as the participating countries had the opportunity to
present their culture, food, traditions, dances and for me, especially interesting, geographical
fun facts. Thanks to these evenings, we learned more about, for example, the complicated
history of Cyprus and some surprising Danish traditions.
Last but not least, this project also enriched me with new friends, and I am already
looking forward to meeting them again. You only live once, Erasmus+ is something you have
to experience, so don’t be afraid and go get that bread!
