YE Find Your Voice
The project Find Your Voice, Know Your Story took place in Latvia, near the town of Jelgava, from August 10th to 17th.
We kicked things off with a teambuilding day – getting to know each other through various activities and games. To be honest, our attention was often stolen by our neighbors: alpacas, rabbits, and one particularly affectionate cat.
The aim of the project was to learn how to express ourselves artistically, explore different forms of creativity, and confidently share our thoughts with others. We focused on storytelling, drawing, breathing techniques, public speaking, active listening, conversations, and plenty of other activities that pushed us out of our comfort zones.
Besides the intense workshops, we also visited Riga’s Museum of the Occupation. After the guided tour, everyone had free time to spend as they wished – some explored more museums and galleries or the national library, while others admired the city’s architecture or relaxed at the beach. A few of us even went to Jelgava, either to work on our final projects or just to explore the city.
From Tuesday to Saturday, we worked in international teams of three – each member coming from a different country. The result was eight original projects, all of which turned out wonderfully and showed how three perspectives can combine into something truly special.
We also loved the unusual mix of participants from Southern, Slavic, and Baltic countries. Working in these teams helped us discover what we have in common, which issues we face similarly, and what works completely differently in our countries. And the cultural evenings? Each one had its own unique flavor, full of music, food, and laughter – and we enjoyed every single one of them.
