Empowering Young People Through Creative Career Guidance

As part of the Erasmus+ project Path to Success – Empowering Youth for the Future Through Career Guidance, Youthfully Yours SK recently carried out piloting activities in Košice, Slovakia, testing an interactive and game-based methodology focused on career counseling and employability skills for young people.

The activities brought together young people aged 15–19 and youth workers in a dynamic learning environment where participants explored job interview preparation through simulations, teamwork, and reflection. Using a specially designed card-based learning game, participants practiced communication, problem-solving, creativity, and self-expression in realistic interview and workplace situations.

The pilot sessions were implemented in schools and youth settings in Košice and received very positive feedback from participants. Many highlighted the interactive and inclusive atmosphere, the opportunity to collaborate with others, and the confidence they gained through the activities. Participants particularly appreciated the creative learning methods, group discussions, and the safe space created for sharing ideas and experiences.

Youth workers involved in the project observed that the methodology encouraged active participation and meaningful discussions, especially in smaller groups where young people felt comfortable expressing themselves and reflecting on their future careers. The activities also proved valuable for developing essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and self-confidence — competences that are increasingly important in today’s labour market.

An important outcome of the pilot was the strong sense of connection and inclusion created during the workshops. Participants emphasized that being listened to, exchanging ideas with peers, and learning through practical experiences made the activities both engaging and impactful. The follow-up discussions and feedback sessions further confirmed that non-formal and creative educational methods can effectively support young people in their personal and professional development.

Overall, the piloting activities demonstrated that interactive and youth-centered approaches can play an important role in career guidance and youth work. The tested methodology showed strong potential for future use by youth organizations, schools, and youth workers looking for innovative ways to prepare young people for employment and active participation in society.
