CTRL+ME+NATURE

The project CTRL-ALT NATURE took place in the peaceful town of Recoaro Terme in Northern Italy from 20th to 27th April, and it was one of the best Erasmus+ experiences I have ever had.

Twenty-three participants from nine European countries took part in the project, including Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Denmark, Hungary, Lithuania, and Curaçao.

The project aimed to teach youth workers digital game-based learning activities in a natural environment. On the first day, we started with team-building activities and completed several group challenges, including creating an anthem, writing poems, taking creative photos, and more.

Over the following days, we discovered new ways to design games and explored what makes a game fun and engaging for others to play. We also spent a lot of time brainstorming and developing our ideas together.

The outcome of the project was a game created by each team that could later be used in youth work and volunteering activities to educate people about important topics such as mental health, the environment, values, and a balanced lifestyle. All the groups presented their games, and the other participants had the opportunity to take part in them. Afterwards, we exchanged feedback to help each other improve and develop our ideas even further.

During our free time, we had the chance to explore the beautiful nature surrounding Piccole Dolomiti and go on a hike to Rifugio Campogrosso, where we enjoyed amazing views and delicious coffee.

One evening was dedicated to an intercultural night, where each national team brought traditional food and drinks from their country and presented them to the others. I was also introduced to many new phrases and songs in different languages. We spent the rest of the evenings socializing, dancing, and trying different flavours of Italian gelato. The last evening was dedicated to a farewell pizza party and the Youthpass ceremony.

Thanks to this experience, I gained a lot of new knowledge and skills that I will be able to use in both my personal life and future youth work, and I am very grateful for that. Apart from that, I made unforgettable memories with many amazing new friends.
