TC Beyond the Feed

I recently took part in a training course “Beyond the feed” from the 20th to the 24th of April in Sant Adrià de Besòs, Barcelona, focused on the impact of AI and social media on mental health. The project brought together 10 participants from different European countries to explore how digital technologies influence our daily lives, emotions, and overall well-being.

Firstly, the course included interactive workshops, group discussions, and practical activities that helped us better understand how algorithms, online behaviour, and constant connectivity shape the way we think and feel. It also highlighted the risks of excessive social media use while offering strategies for building healthier and more mindful digital habits. One of my favourite activities was watching a documentary that showed the reality of social media through the perspective of workers who have been in that environment for years or even helped create these apps. It was very instructive and emotional to see what is happening behind the scenes and how it all has begun.

Secondly, the programme was very well organized and valuable. One of my favourite memories was the chance to explore Barcelona during the holiday of Sant Jordi, which is a Catalan Valentine’s Day. It was a rare and beautiful opportunity to be there at that time. What’s more, we spent a day visiting museums, exhibitions, and a local school that focuses on the mental health of young students from diverse cultural backgrounds and less advantaged conditions. This experience, in particular, showed and taught me a lot about the real impact of social media on our lives. It was a very moving and touching day.

In my opinion, the project was both insightful and inspiring. I especially valued the opportunity to exchange ideas with people from different parts of Europe, which made the experience even more enriching. Overall, it was a meaningful learning experience that encouraged me to reflect on my own relationship with technology and to be more aware of its impact.
