TC Play for Media Literacy
The project took place between the 11th and 18th of November in Bansko, Bulgaria. The main goal of the event was to educate participants about the importance of understanding how mass media works and how to cope with the overwhelming amount of information coming from countless sources. In today’s world, where information is often worth more than money, being familiar with the techniques and methods used by the media is a huge advantage. Therefore, taking part in such a project was definitely the right decision. Through various games and activities, we had the chance to realize that the way we perceive what is being broadcast may sometimes be misleading.
But the project was not as serious as it might sound. We also had the opportunity to meet fantastic people from all across Europe. I am convinced that the bonds we formed may last for a very long time – maybe even forever. Although the workshops and activities were sometimes mentally or physically demanding, the fun and positive atmosphere we shared will never fade from our memories.
Surrounded by picturesque mountains, the whole experience was even more special.
The project gave us new perspectives on how to recognize traps set by the media, as well as knowledge related to the topic and practical skills that may be beneficial for my everyday work. Using games is a great way to engage students.
Last but not least, it should be added that the Erasmus+ programme is not just about spending time in another part of the world. Its goal is to spread this idea further, because experience shows that it truly makes a difference.
