Unity for Peace Training Course
The project โUnity for peace and for a Better Futureโ took place from 3.12 to 12.12 near the city of Larnaca. It was mainly focusedย on overcoming differences between cultures and the effort to find compromise and peace through understanding and healthy communication with the other side. It was in the form of interesting presentations,ย workshopsย and discussions, and as an authentic example we wereย shownย the effort to find an agreement in polarized Cyprus.ย
Theย amazingย organizersย arrangedย interesting activities for us, where we learned new ways of communication, we overcame stereotypes about our countries and cultures, we learned cooperationย through creating postersย and visited the capital Nicosia, where in our free time we could go to the occupied side and compareย howย the world looks like, when itย works on different principles.ย
In our free time, we swam in the sea, which was only a few dozen metersย from our accommodation, played board games and danced at our disco. Every evening thereย wereย fascinating interculturalย nightsย where we had theย chanceย to get to know and share our cultures, taste typicalย foodย andย tryย traditional dances
This project showed me how important it is to be able to communicate openly and to listen to other perspectives, then how easily conflicts can arise but also how they can be resolved or prevented. The whole project went without any complications and the organizers from Youthย Enaalย Cyprusย were very friendly,ย reliableย and helpful.ย
We ended the project with a difficult farewell to new friends and with many wonderful memories.ย
