YE on Mental Health

The Mental Health Youth Exchange Erasmus+ Project, taking place between 23rd and 30th October, was held in Cristuru Secuiesc, Romania. The project was focused on mental health in everyday lives. During various workshops and activities, we had the opportunity to learn about ourselves and also, learn how to take care of our mental well-being. We discussed topics like routines, self-awareness, and even the inner child. The organizers and participants managed to create a safe environment thanks to which we could freely discuss important topics without feeling insecure.
We formed strong friendships across countries with unique and inspiring people who helped us discover the best in ourselves.  I believe we managed to create a strong community of many like-minded and positive people scattered all across Europe.
Our daily schedule was rather full, filled with captivating workshops and activities. However, we always had enough time to have fun and share deep and meaningful moments. Our conversations were often light-hearted even during tougher topics which helped us to feel secure in our friends and organisers.
During the project, we stayed in two small motels within easy walking distance of the A.T.A., which was a center where we spent most of the days. Cristuru, as we found out, was a small and calm city with beautiful forests surrounding it and kind people.
This project gave us many practical skills, inspirations, and new perspectives. We have broadened our horizons and learned how to get along with people from all walks of life. We learned how to communicate our feelings more clearly, how routines are vital for everyday life, how to listen to our inner child, and also, how active listening can change our lives. Now, we know how small steps can make big changes and how learning, not just in the classroom, can be beneficial for our lives.
We will never forget this experience and the friendships we managed to create on our wonderful journey in this program. We are deeply grateful for having such a wonderful experience which made a difference not only for us, but also for everyone who was a part of the project.
