TC Preventing Youth Radicalisation in the Digital Age: Tools for Youth Workers

The youth exchange will take place between 4.5-12.5.2026 in Bansko, Bulgaria.

Overall goal: This training course equips youth workers with the knowledge and practical tools to understand modern forms of youth radicalisation and extremism and to strengthen prevention and early intervention in everyday youth work.

Project objectives:

  • Strengthen youth workers’ understanding of contemporary radicalization pathways, especially the online dimension and hybrid extremist narratives.
  • Equip participants with prevention toolkits (activities, facilitation methods, digital resilience exercises) that build protective factors like belonging and critical thinking.
  • Build capacity to recognize early signs and respond safely, ethically, and without stigmatizing young people
  • Improve youth workers’ ability to work with families as partners in prevention, including online safety and communication skills.
  • Strengthen referral competence and cooperation with local services through clear, youth-friendly, rights-based pathways.
  • Support youth workers to create local prevention action plans and partnerships that fit their youth settings.

Number of participants: 2-3

Ideal Participant profile:

  • Currently involved in working with young people on a regular basis.
  • Socially engaged and motivated individual.
  • Open to innovative and creative learning methods.
  • Ready to actively participate in all phases of the project.
  • Committed to implementing at least one follow-up activity.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Participant must be over 18 years old and not to be on their ESC volunteering service at the moment

Important information:

Accommodation, food, materials, and travel costs (up to the maximum allowed amount) are covered.

Travel cost limits: 309€

Extremely important: Keep all travel receipts and tickets for reimbursement, as the participant must keep the travel document to and from the destination and hand it over / send it to the project organizer according their instructions.

Insurance: Travel insurance is NOT paid by the organizers or subsequently reimbursed. Each participant is obliged to take out health insurance, which is valid in Bulgaria.

  • Only purchase tickets after receiving written confirmation from the organizers.
  • All participants must attend all sessions and participate in dissemination activities afterwards.
