YE: Youthcracy

The youth exchange will take place between 18.7-26.7.2025 in Botassart, Belgium.

This youth exchange brings together young people from six European countries at the Loryhan Youth Centre in the Belgian Ardennes. In addition to the intercultural Erasmus+ exchange, the „YOUTHCRACY“ simulation game is at the centre of the meeting. Youthcracy is a play on the words „youth“ and „democracy“ and stands for the idea that in this project, young people take „power“ as part of a simulation. A democratic society is simulated over a period of one week, in which the participants have the opportunity to act politically (vote, run for office, observe, react, negotiate) and learn from their practical experiences. The aim is to gain an understanding of democratic processes and opportunities for co-determination through playful experimentation. The supporting programme offers interesting leisure activities (sports, group games, etc.) as well as visits to political institutions to get to know political institutions and exchange ideas with politicians about real political processes.
