TC From I to Us

Youth workers from 12 different European countries came together in Arterra Bizimodu (Spain) for the training “From I to Us.” The training focused on exploring how individuals can become more conscious, responsible and collaborative actors within communities and organisations.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in a variety of experiential learning activities designed to explore the relationship between personal awareness and collective processes.

A significant part of the training focused on communication and emotional awareness. Participants explored the role of emotions in interpersonal dynamics and were introduced to the framework of Nonviolent Communication, reflecting on how observations, feelings, needs and requests shape the way we communicate with others.

Another key theme of the training was participatory governance and collective decision-making. Participants experienced elements of sociocracy, learning about consent-based decision processes and practicing sociocratic elections to better understand how different roles can be assigned in a transparent and inclusive way.

The program also addressed power and privilege within groups and communities. Through facilitated discussions and reflective exercises, participants explored different forms of power — including power within, power with, and power over — and reflected on how social positions, identities and structural inequalities can influence participation and voice within collective processes.

Alongside structured sessions, participants engaged in community work and shared responsibilities, experiencing everyday aspects of cooperation and co-living that are often present in intentional communities.

Time for personal reflection and integration was also an important element of the training. Participants spent time in nature reflecting on their learning process and sharing insights with others in small groups and plenary discussions.

The From I to Us project is co-financed by the European Union.
